Come fly with me ♪... O del como me obsesioné con la serie Panam.

Vi los posters en la calle. "Hmmm se ve interesante, si me acuerdo la veré".

Vi los cortos en la tele, "¡Jesus! Ve nada más que bonita ropa!, debería de estarla viendo ya!"

Compré el primer episodio en iTunes, "¿Cómo es que me espere hasta ahora para ver esta serie?"

Saw the publicity on my daily commuting. "Hmmm it seems interesting, if I get a chance I'll see it"
Saw the previews on tv, "Wow! Look at those outfits!, I should really see it!"

Bought the first episode on iTunes, "How come I waited until now to see it?!"

Panam es una de esas series que tiene muchos encantos para mí.

En su tiempo vi las primeras dos temporadas de "Desperate Housewives" para entretenerme con los outfits de Gabrielle y la delicadeza y exageraciones de Bree. Igual con "La Niñera" me daba curiosidad ver con que atuendo saldría, y debo a aceptar que la trama también me gustaba bastante al grado de que vi la serie completita.

Los ejemplos de series y películas que me gustan y que disfruto en gran medida por los vestuarios de los personajes, son numerosos, pero el caso de Panam es punto y aparte.

Panam is of those series for a person like me has many charms. At the time, the first two seasons of "Desperate Housewives" keep my attention, always looking forward to see the latest look Gabrielle will be strutting, or just to be entertained by the delicadecy and exagerations of Bree. Before that, something similar happened to me with "The Nanny", but the plot on this show did kept me watching until it´s end, I would always enjoy watching Mrs. Fine and her outfits.

The examples of shows and movies that I like and enjoy because of the characters garments are many, but Panam in the moment is beyond that line.

Sin duda cada episodio de Panam esta repleto de delicias visuales, pero también está el encanto de ver representado el cambiante papel de la mujer en la fuerza laboral y todas las implicaciones sociales que el tener un trabajo como azafata en los años sesentas conllevaba.

Si esto lo aunamos a que desde corta edad yo reconocía mi gusto por viajar y que pasaba horas aspirando a conocer otras culturas y creencias, por lo que la primera ves que viaje en avión, a mis seis añitos; estaba convencida de que el trabajo de azafata representaba muchas ventajas y era, como la profesión de arqueologo, un trabajo de ensueño.

Every single episode of Panam is full of eye candy, but it´s also nice to see the representation of the changing role of women in the sixties, their new responsabilities and all the social implications of having a job as a stewardess in the Jet Age.

Add all the above to the fact that from an early age, I´ve recognize my passion for travelling, always looking forward to know other cultures and other beliefs. Which widely explains why at the tender age of 6 years old, the first time I travelled by plane, I was fully conviced that having a job as a stewardess -just as I thought of becoming an archaeologist - was a dream profession.

A la par de los capitulos de la serie, he visto los testimonios de las autenticas azafatas de Panam, en esta era de glamour y sofisticacion, en las que viajar en avion era un privilegio. Tiempos en los que la gente aun se ponia sus mejores atuendos para salir, las muejeres demostraban su delicadeza con sus guantes blancos, los hombres iban perfectamente bien peinados, y los niños eran un ejemplo de buenos modales.

Ahhhh! esos tiempos que no me toco vivir, pero que visto desde mi perspectiva parecieran ser mas civilizados, aclaro en ciertas convivencias, porque el racismo y la segregación no me parecen fenomenos en absoluto civilizados o aceptables.

Just like I´ve been following the episodes of Panam, I have also seen some of the testimonies from real Panam stewardess. I enjoy learning more about this time of sophistication and glamour, in which travelling by airplane was a privilege. Those times when people would actually travel in their best outfits, when ladies will wear gloves as delicate as their manners, when men would be perfectly groomed, and even children were a clear example of good manners and politeness.

Ohhh! those times that I didn´t get to live, but that seen from my perspective seemed to be way more civilized in certain circumstances, I repeat "certain cirumstances" since I do not agree with racism or segragation, both phenomena that I don´t see as civilized or aceptable.

En mis momentos de divagación más de una ves me he preguntado como habría sido mi vida en esa década, una cierta añoranza por tomar parte activa en el cambio de la sociedad en que se vive.

In my mental wandering, more than once I´ve asked myself how my life would have been if I had been a young woman in that time, you know, a certain longing to be active part of a changing society.

En fin, espero no salar la serie, y ruego porque no caigan en tramas demasiado telenovelescas. Por favor productores de Panam, mantengan la trama inteligente!... o al menos simple! jajaja

I wouldn´t like to jinx this serie, and I pray that it won´t fall in to that soap opera-like-plot. Please Panam, producers, keep it smart! Or at least simple!

Pareciera que las últimas tres veces ( o más) que he ido a cortarme el cabello, he tenido claro en mi cabeza que quiero dejar que mi cabello crezca y dejarlo tan largo como hace años no lo he traído.
Y luego algo extraño ocurre que horas antes de ir con mi estilista, pareciera ser bombardeada por imágenes de simpatiquísimos cortes de cabello estilo pixie.
It seems like at least the last three times that I'm about to get a haircut, I'm totally convinced that it will only be a trim to keep it in shape, since I really wanted to grow longer than 've had it for at least the last 8 years.
Something weird happens, but just as the time to meet my stylist comes closer, I feel like all of the sudden I'm attacked with nice images of uber cute pixie haircuts.

Mi fin de semana (el que recién paso) comenzó con la sorpresa de la película "Foo Fighters Back and Forth", y hasta ahorita no la supero. Chavos aquí les dejo una pequeña selección de marcas y estilos que son una muy buena compra para la temporada de otoño-invierno 2011-12.

Botas del desierto, oxfords y zapato de vestir puntiagudos.
Buenas noticias para quienes compraron sus botas del desierto (por favor corrijánme si el nombre es diferente), porqué este año siguen de moda.
Los zapatos de vestir, con o sin agujetas, aun son un tanto largos y puntiágudos, la mayoría de ella con una terminación cuadrada (para que no parezcan duendes o vaqueros).
Los oxfords, que son mis favoritos de la temporada, son una excelente alternativa si quieren seguir las propuestas de la temporada, sin arriesgar mucho.

Hace dos meses todo mundo hablaba acerca de la Boda Real, y ¿por que ahora no tantos hablan de ésta Boda Real?

Two months ago everyone was talking about this Royal Wedding, how come not as many people talked about this other Royal Wedding?

¡Ahhh la realeza de Monaco! Definitivamente tiene entre su familia a tres de mis favoritas, Grace Kelly, Carolina de Monaco y, por supuesto, Carlota Casiraghi. Esa niña tiene mi respeto desde antes de que ella misma tuviera edad para elegir su ropa, por que aceptémoslo, se puede nacer con mucho dinero, y puedes ser hijo de personas guapisimas y ganadoras de la lotería genética... pero el porte, no es necesariamente hereditario.

Monaco´s royalty has among their family three of my favorite Princesses, Grace Kelly, Caroline of Monaco, and of course, Charlotte Casiraghi. These girl has my respect since she wasn´t even old enough to choose her own clothes! Let´s face it, you could be born filthy rich, and a daughter of gorgeous parents, but her elegance is not necessary an hereditary element.

Volviendo al tema de la boda, tal vez sean los rumores de que la novia (ahora esposa) del Príncipe Alberto, intentó huir tres veces y ahorrarse su destino como Princesa, o tal vez sea la edad misma del Príncipe, o el constante cuestionamiento de su sexualidad lo que no le ayuda a tener tantísimas fanáticas como el Príncipe William. Lo cierto es que este fin de semana no escuché a nadie platicar de esta boda, ni me enteré de bares en mi ciudad transmitiendo el evento, o de televisoras produciendo una miniserie con la historia de Alberto de Monaco y Charlene.

About the wedding. It might be because of the rumors of Charlene - the now wife of Prince Albert- playing the runaway bride, or even Albert´s age, or the constant debate on his sexuality, but for some reason this wedding didn´t seem to be as expected or followed as Prince William´s.

Through the last couple of days, I never heard of anyone talking about the details of this events, or noticing that bars in my city would be transmiting the wedding live, or even the production of the tv miniseries showcasing the love history of Albert and Charlene Wittstock.

Ni frío, ni mucho calor. El clima perfecto para usar colores neutros.

Este vestidito es de lo más práctico y combinable. ¿La ocasión? Ir a trabajar, pero bien puede ser un look "day to night", osea una prenda para ir a trabajar, y con un ligero cambio de accesorios y/o zapatos, para salir por la noche.

This dress is so easy to mix and match. In this case the outfit was a summery alternative to go to work, buy thanks to the nature of the dress we could consider it a "day to night" outfit. A few changes in accessories and shoes, and we are good to go out and about.

Recientemente me he dado a la tarea de poner en práctica el uso de colores neutros, y claro de gozar de sus beneficios. Entre mis mini-proyectos para el resto del verano, está el incorporar a mi inventario looks con colores brillantes (el famosísimo color blocking!). Ya les compartiré mis avances.

Lately I´ve push myself to preach with the example and wearing neutral colors in my outfits. Like that I can take advantage of the liberty of endless choices of mixing and matching - in both shoes and accessories.

Among my personal and modest projects for the rest of the summer, I have the idea of incorporating to my weardrobe bright colors, and go for color blocking. I shall share with you my advances.

Con la dicha que me da leer comentarios en este blog, y me encontré un comentario muy interesante y simpático a la vez. ¿Cómo combinar este zapato?

It makes me feel happy when you guys reading my blog leave your thoughts and opinions, and I was glad to find a very interesting and pleasant request. How to mix or match this shoe?

Lo primero que me viene a la mente es: "depende de la ocasión y de tu closet", pero la verdad es que una respuesta así no saca de la duda, al menos no por si sola. Así que se me ocurrió ejemplificar lo versátil del zapato.

The first thought that crossed my mind was: "well it depends on the occasion and your weardrobe", but let´s face it! That answet is not really helpful by itself, so instead, I decided to ilustrate how versatile this shoe is.

Con zapatos, como con la ropa, el look final que obtendrás dependerá de las combinaciones.

In clothing as in shoes, the final look you´ll achieve, depends on every single item used.

Los ejemplos de look business-casual y trendy, quedan perfectos para ir a trabajar o una reunión de negocios, mientras que el look preppy y everyday casual, son una buena idea para ir de un día en la escuela (universidad, o trabajos sin un código de vestido estricto), o para salir por unos tragos coquetos, al cine, o a cenar.

So the equation is simple: business-casual and trendy looks = a good outfit for work or a business meeting.
While looks preppy and everyday casual = a day at university or jobs without a specific dress code, or for going to the movies or a bar.

Respecto a los colores, entre más sencillo mejor. Por ser neutral, el color de los zapatos es super combinable. Entre mis combinaciones favoritas están el café y todas sus derivaciones, el azul y el verde (ilustrado en el gráfico a continuación). Aunque la verdad es que mientras no abuses de los colores (usar más de tres colores en un mismo outfit), y los estampados (rayas, puntos, flores, letras y demás), estos zapatos son casi una garantía de un look exitoso.

About the colors to match, the simpler, the better. In the picture below, I´m showing what would be my favorite combinations, but honestly, if you don´t abuse the use of patterns -such as strippes, flowers, polka dots or God know what- and if you don´t add too many colors - more than 3 shades in the same outfit-, the shoe you chose are a warranty of a succesful look.

¡Ahh Zoe!, la banda orgullosamente mexicana, que desde hace poco más de una década tiene un lugar especial en el Soundtrack de mi vida.
En estos últimos días he escuchado mucho su último disco, Musica de fondo, una recopilación padrisíma en versión unplugged con colaboraciones de Chetes (Zurdok y Vaquero, bandas mexicanas), Adrián Dárgelos (Babasonicos), y Lo Blondo (la vocalista de Hello Seahorse!).

Zoe, a proudly mexican band, that since a decade ago, has a very special place in the Soundtrack of my life.
For the past few weeks, I´ve heard a lot their last album, "Musica de Fondo" (something like "Backgroun music"), an awesome unplugged version of some of their well-know songs, featuring other latinamerican artist such as Chetes (from Zurdok and Vaquero , mexican bands), Adrián Dárgelos (from Babasonicos a famous band from Argentina), y and Lo Blondo (the lead singer from Hello Seahorse!.)

¡Ay! pero si me encantan! Y estas versiones nostalgiconas, están más "pegadoras" jajaja.

Darn they are good! And the new versions of these songs are even more sentimental - you know, they are already pretty meaningful but still!

Si hiciera un top 5 de mis voces favoritas, sin duda León Larreguí estaría en el, allí juntito a Dave Ghrol de Foo Fighters, Shirley Manson de Garbage, Eross Ramazzotti, y por supuesto, junto a Lykke Li.

If I had to choose my top 5 in voices, León Larreguí would be -without a doubt- in that privileged list. Right next to Dave Ghrol ( Foo Fighters), Shirley Manson (Garbage), Eross Ramazzotti, and of course my beloved Lykke Li.

Hablando de voces que me mueven, confieso mi ignorancia, y les platico que no tenía el gusto de conocer a Lo Blondo. ¡Que barbara! ¡Que bonito canta! Cuando escuche "Luna", que por cierto me parece una maravilla de canción, con ese intro tan suave que combina perfecto con la voz de esta chica; se me hizo un nudo en la garganta.

Talking about great voices that have that "je ne sais quoi", I confess my ignorance by sharing with you guys that until now, I didn´t have the pleasure of listening to Lo Blondo. Jeez! She is good!
When I heard "Luna" - this deeply emotional song- with that soft intro that blend in perfect with this girl´s voice, I just felt a lump in my throat.

Gloves for your feet? Really?

¿Zapatos que quedan como guantes? ¿De verdad?

Hace un par de semanas una persona me pregunto si yo sabía donde podía encontrar un par de "esos zapatos tan populares entre la gente joven.... esos que quedan como un guante". Obvio que esta persona me agarró completamente desprevenida. Hace algunos años compré unos zapatos que parecían zapatos de ninja, así con forma de pie de tortuga ninja, por lo que pensé que tal vez este señor se refería algo similar a mi "exotica" compra en tierras italianas. Después de "googlear" sus referencias, me encontré con la nueva versión de mis zapatos (que por cierto eran comodísimos para caminar), y resulto que estos nuevos zapatos si quedan como guantes.

Some weeks ago a guy asked me if I knew where to find a pair of "those super popular among young people... you know, the ones that fit like gloves!". He totally caught me by surprise, since I had no idea what he was talking about. For a moment I thought of my shoes that I once bought in Italy, maybe that trend of ike ninja shoes was back you know. I must add that those shoes were very comfortable to walk in!
After "googling" his references I came across with this new version of my shoes that DO fit like gloves.

Esta padrísimo el diseño ¿no? Los deditos me recordaron un poco a los guantes de astronauta, y por lo que ví en los videos de la página oficial de la marca (Vibram five fingers), son buenisimos para correr, para practicar yoga y escalar. Tengo aceptarlo ¡me entró la duda! ¿Cómo se sentirá correr en esos?

Crazy design isn´t it? I reminds me a bit of the astronauts gloves.

I saw the videos on the website of this brand (Vibram five fingers), and apparently they are great for running, yoga and hiking. I can´t help to wonder how it feels to run in those!

Los novios... aunque mas especificamente ella, la ahora Duquesa de Cambridge. Esta muy guapa Kate Middleton, y tiene todo el porte que la mismisima Camilla Parker-Bowles quisiera. Sin mencionar que es un ejemplo extremo de la llamada Ley de la Atraccion, que dice que si deseas algo lo suficiente, siempre te llegara.

The Dutch and Dutchess of Cambridge... honestly, I like more her. Good looking Kate Middleton has all the poise and style that Camilla Parker-Bowles can only wish and hope for. Plus, she is the greatest example of the Law of Attraction, which professes that if you wish hard enough for something, you will eventually attract it to you.

Hace un par de semanas elegí algunos looks, y con la ayuda de familia y amigos tomamos algunas fotos (al decir algunas estoy siendo super modesta porque fueron seiscientas o mas! jaja) ¿El motivo? La renovación de este blog, y de mi portafolio creativo.

A couple of weeks I chose a few outfits, and with the help from family and friends, we took some pictures - yes by saying "some pictures" I am been totally modest since they are more than 600!- What motivated me? The renovation of both, this blog, and my creative porftolio.

Estuvo bastante divertido, y a pesar de que no se nota en las fotos, aun estaba el día bastante invernal. Espero que no me delate la cara, pero en todas las fotos de exteriores, tenia mucho frio! Ahhh.. la difícil vida de las modelos! :) Claaaaro!

The Hyena & other men by Pieter Hugo

En el 2005 de Pieter Hugo documento en fotografias la vida de una familia en Nigeria, quienes adoptaron y domesticaron hienas, babuinos y serpientes, y publico estas poco convencionales imágenes bajo el nombre de "The Hyena & other men". Aquí les comparto algunas de las imágenes de este libro.

During 2005, Pieter Hugo, documented through pictures the life of a family in Nigeria. What makes this family unique is that they keep as pets hyenas, baboons and snakes. They don't only keep them near themselves, but they were actually capable of taming them. This images form an interesting book named "The Hyena & other men", so I decided to share with you some of this images with you.

Del otro lado del mundo el diseñador Julian Louie, encontro en este material, la inspiracion para su coleccion Primavera-Verano 2011, presentada en la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York.

Louie explico que su coleccion esta conformada por piezas individuales, a diferencia de looks pre-construidos.
Sus sencillos pero no menos interesantes diseños, fueron combinados con unos super llamativos zapatos estilo "wedge" manufacturados y distribuidos por Aldo., fueron combinados con unos super llamativos zapatos estilo "wedge" manufacturados y distribuidos por la marca canadiense Aldo.

Designer Julian Louie found on this book the right inspiration to create his 2011 Spring- Summer collection, presented during New York"s Fashion Week.

Louie said that this collection was formed by "individual" pieces and not the usual "looks" proposed by fellow designers. His garments keep simple lines and color, and were presented in contrast with very flashy and tribal- motif wedges, manufactured and distributed by canadian brand Aldo.

Les aseguro que ni ella, ni los hombres de esta foto lo imaginaron.

Who would have guessed that such a tender face and brave gaze on Mummy Ahmadu's face - the little girl captured by Pieter Hugo's lens, holding a huge snake and playing with hyenas- would contribute shaping what shoes thousands of ladies will be adding to their weardrobes.

I can bet that neither her, or the other men in this picture, saw it coming.

Recorriendo el contenido de este blog en busca de posibles mejoras, me encontré con la terrible sorpresa de que varios de ustedes me han dejado comentarios en entradas anteriores y no me había dado cuenta. No se que hice mal, en algún momento cambie la configuración o de plano me dormí porque me di cuenta que me he perdido de muchos comentarios desde los últimos meses del 2010.

Les pido una disculpa a quienes muy amablemente me dejaron sus comentarios o incluso preguntas
(como donde compre mi playera de Zoe), y peor aun a quienes me dejaron preguntas acerca de que ponerse para una ocasión especial.

Going through this blog in the search of faults and improvements needed, I was sad to find that some of you kindly left messages in Lvi previous entries, and I hadn't even noticed. I don't know what went wrong, maybe I change the configuration or I was just too clumpsy but I realized that I've been missing many comments since the last months of 2010.

I apologize to all of you that were nice enough to leave comments or even questions (like where I bought from my Zoe t-shirt) or even worst, to those who ask for my suggestion on what to wear for a special occassion.

Que alegria es ir descubriendo las señas de la primavera poco a poco, asi que por supuesto que ver la nueva edicion de la revista H&M, me dio bastante gusto.

La primavera llego a los escaparates hace un par de semanas, y poco a poco se va abriendo paso entre la nieve y el cielo nublado.

It's always a joy to find one by one the signs that spring is making its way, so finding the new edition of the H&M magazine made me happy.

Lo he dicho antes y lo vuelvo a decir. Adoro el contraste del blanco y el negro, el contraste de un trazo grueso sobre un color brillante.

Me gustan las pinturas realistas, las admiro por supuesto, pero mi estilo se inclina a una forma un tanto mas minimimalista. Pinturas que te dan una idea de lo que quieren que veas en ellos, sin poner todos los detalles en la imagen... Genera una buena interacción entre el artista y su publico, dicho de una forma burda, cada quien "completa" la imagen y acaba viendo lo que quiere ver.

I've said it before, and I say it again. I simply love the contrast between black and white, the contrast of a thick stroke against a bright color.

I like realistic paintings, I admire them that's for sure, but my style is more of a minimalistic way of expression. Portraits that give you an idea of what you are supposed to be looking at, without really putting all the details on the image... I find it ends up been a great interaction between an artist and it's public, said in a though way, everyone will see what they want to see.

No estoy segura de cual fue la primera pintura de Keith Haring que vi siendo una puberta, pero si me acuerdo que pensé: "Quien hizo esto? Como me hubiera encantado haberlo hecho yo!". Y es aquí donde entra otro elemento al juego, una razón mas para que me guste tanto el estilo de Haring, esa excelente combinación entre trazos redondeados (que parecen hacer cualquier pintura o dibujo algo mas amigable y cercano), y esa dureza de sus temáticas o excentrisimos lienzos; como el sarcófago egipcio de la foto de abajo, que Haring no dudo en cubrir con sus garabatos y figuras ya características.

I'm not quite sure what was the first Keith Haring painting that saw as a teenager, I just remember I thought: "Who did this? I would have love to be the one drawing this!". And there's where another element comes to play, another reason of why I like Haring's style, that great combination of rounded traces that almost make any image friendly, and that roughness of his subjects, or even excentric canvas - like the egyptian sarcophagus in the picture below, which he didn't hesitate on covering with scribbles and figures.

Lo anteriormente mencionado no significa que ame de facto cada una de sus obras, al contrario, debo de confesar que hay varias de ellas que al verlas por primera vez me hicieron pelar los ojos o hasta sonrojarme un poco. Lo que si reconozco es que mis reacciones eran parte de su plan (ok no precisamente MIS reacciones en especifico, sino hablando en general), dado que el siempre se mantuvo asi mismo y a sus creaciones en cercana relacion con temas socio-politicos, incluyendo sus acciones por generar consciencia respecto al SIDA.

The above dosen't necessarly means that I love de facto every single one of his pieces, I must confess there's quite a few that made me open my eyes widly in shock or even blush a bit. But I do recognize that my reactions were part of his plan -well not exclusively MY reactions, but generally speaking- , always keeping himself and his artwork in close relation to socio-political themes, including his actions towards AIDS awareness.

Con el debido respeto, y esperando que esto no suene amargo, veo algunas de sus obras como una buena broma sarcastica, el tipo de ironia que te hace sonreir o hasta reir, pero que tambien toca fibras mas sensibles...
Señor Haring, por favor perdoneme, admiro su trabajo y su estilo, I es gracias a gente como usted que el arte
sigue avanzando.

With all due respect and hoping this dosen't sound bitter, I see some of his works as a good sarcastic joke, the kind of irony that makes you smile or even laugh but a bit, but it also touches other more sentitive fibers...Please don't get me wrong Mr. Haring, I admire your work and style, it is thank to people like you that art moves forward.

Algunas de mis adquisiciones recientes (otras ya no tan recientes), en accesorios.

Accessories: Some of my most recent purchases -and a couple of them a few months old.

Me encantaron los anillos dobles, y no ... no son incomodos... y si, si puedo mover las manos.

I love those double rings, and in case you where also wondering, no they are not uncomfortable, and yes I can move my hands.

Este anillo militar lo compre poco antes de Navidad. Soy super mega fan de esa tendencia, no me importa que pase de moda, la seguiré incorporando de una forma u otra a mis vestuarios. Poco después de comprar el anillo compre los broches militares para ponerle a mis abrigos, vestidos y sueteres. Y fue hasta hace un mes que encontre la banda para el cabello que combina con los broches. Evito ponerme todo en un solo outfit, tampoco quiero parecer tienda de recuerdos de un museo jajaja.

I bought this military ring a little bit before Christmas. I'm a huge fan of this trend, I don't care if it goes out of fashion, I will still find a way to incorporate it on my looks. A couple of weeks after I bought it, I found the brooches to wear with my coats, dresses and sweters. And it was until a month that I found this headband shown on the picture below, it matches all but I avoid wearing everything at once, I don't want to look like a musuem souvenir store! Hahaha.

Este anillo lo compre a inicios de Febrero, ya saben, el mes cursi y demas. Ultimamente me ha dado por agregar anillos a mi inventario de accesorios. Siempre perdia los anillos, y salvo uno de plata que no me quito jamas, el resto de mis anillos "reales" son de oro, asi que acaban quedandose guardados por que no soy mucho de oro. No me atrae tanto ese color, al menos no por si solo.

I bought this ring in the first days of February, you know, this korny season and all. Lately I've been adding rings to my accessories inventory. I would always lose the rings I wore, and except but one silver ring that I a-l-w-a-y-s wear, all of my "real" rings are gold, so they tend to stay home since I'm not much of a gold person. I'm not very appeal to it, at least not by itself.

LuceBuona: ¿Cuáles fueron las primeras reacciones, de amigos, conocidos, marido/novio, etc cuando empezaste con tu blog?

Clo by Clau!: Cuando inicié el blog solo mi esposo sabia de su existencia, y a él siempre se emociona de ver los comentarios que me deja la gente :) Después poco a poco se lo he ido compartiendo a algunos de mis amigos, algunos si se interesan por los temas otros no tanto, la mayoría de ellos no son asiduos a los blogs.

LuceBuona: When you first started your blog, what was the reaction among your friends, husband/boyfriend, acquaintances?

Clo by Clau!: When I started my blog, only my husband knew about it, and he always enjoys reading the comments left by my followers :) Little by little, I've shared it with some of my friends, some of them are interested in the topics, some of them not much. Most of them don't really keep track of any blog.

LuceBuona: Cuando algo nos gusta de verdad, acumulamos una variedad de anécdotas relacionadas con el tema. ¿Nos puedes compartir una anécdota graciosa relacionada con la moda, creatividad o la fotografía? (¡que evidentemente te encantan y se te dan!)

Clau: Ah pues como tú sabes mi blog se llama Clo by Clau (Clo por clothing) ya que inicialmente lo empecé porque quería compartir mis proyectos de costura. Después abrí mi cuenta de twitter y la llame igual: @clobyclau. Algunas de mis amigas de twitter al ver mi nombre creyeron que decía Cloby Clau entonces me empezaron a decir Cloby, inicialmente por error y después que se dieron cuenta lo hacían solo por echar carro, ahora hasta mi esposo me dice así: ¡Hola Cloby! ¿Cómo estás Cloby? :P

LuceBuona: When we like something, we accumulate a whole variety of anecdotes related to the subject, could you share with us a funny anecdote related to fashion, creativity or photography? - Which you clearly love and distinguish you-.

Clau: As you know my blog is called Clo by Clau - Clo comes from the word clothing- because I started it to share my sewing proyects. Later on, I opened a twitter account, and I named it @clobyclau. Some of my twitter friends while reading my name, thought it said Cloby Clau, so they started calling me Cloby, in the beginning it was a mistake, but once they notice the mistake they kept doing it to joke. Now even my husband calls me like that! " Hi cloby!", "How are you cloby?" :P

LuceBuona: Todos tenemos "guilty pleasures" ( cosas que nos gustan y al mismo tiempo nos hacen hacen sentir culpables), comparte alguno de ellos.

Clau: Pues yo creo que es algo que a muchas les ha de pasar cuando van de shopping, yo me pongo en el plan de que quiero comprarme algo y no puedo regresar a casa sin al menos una cosa (porque ya traía en mente que ese día iría de compras) así que en esas ocasiones es cuando me hago de prendas que son las que terminan ahí en el closet sin que las use una sola vez :S Soy feliz el día de la compra pero después me arrepiento porque gasté dinero en algo que no necesitaba y que siempre termino regalando cuando hago limpia de mi closet :S

LuceBuona: We all have guilty pleasures - things that we love but at the same time make us feel a bit guilty - please share one of them with us.

Clau: I think it happens to many of us when we go shopping. When I decide to go out and shop, I have my mind set on that, so I feel like I can't go back home without buying at least one thing! And it's then when I end up buying things that will just be sitting on my closet without been worn a single time :S I'm so happy the day I buy them, but later on I really regret spending money in something I didn't even need, and I eventually give those items away everytime I decide to clean my closet :S

LuceBuona: Si pudieras borrar de la faz de la tierra una tendencia o una prenda en específico ¿cuál sería? Y por qué.

Clau: Uy esta sí que es difícil, ya que hay tendencias que no yo no usaria porque no van con mi estilo pero que a otras personas les van muy bien y me gustan, incluso hay tendencias que no las imagino en alguien en un día a día pero que para una foto funcionan perfecto, así que no se me ocurre alguna que quisiera eliminar en este momento.

LuceBuona: If you could eradicate a trend or a specific garment, which would you choose? Why?

Clau: Uhh that's a though one, because there's trends that I wouldn't use since they don't get along with my style, but they work for other people, and other people like them as well. There's also trends that I can't see anyone wearing on a daily basis, but that work amazing for pictures, so there's not a single trend that I can think of that I would actually like to eradicate.

LuceBuona: Me encantan tus diys (do it your self o hazlo tu mismo), con muchisima personalidad, y super femeninos, tu sentido de la moda y estilo son innegables; a partir de esto, si tuvieras la oportunidad de hacerle un cambio de imagen a una celebridad, ¿a quién preferirías ayudar? y por qué le urge tanto un cambio a esta persona?

Clau: Gracias por tus comentarios, y en cuanto a la pregunta pues en gustos se rompen géneros y hay celebridades que no tiene estilos que me gustan pero alguien que si me encantaría ver bien vestida (creo que si la he visto así una que otra vez) es a Katy Perry, es muy guapa pero su estilo extravagante cae de repente en lo vulgar, no creo que para ser sexy se tenga que enseñar tanta piel. Yo creo que se vería excelente con un estilo elegante y femenino conservando ese aire retro que le va muy bien, como su maquillaje estilo Pin Up.

LuceBuona: I love your diy's they are full of charm, and very feminine, and your sense of style is undeniable; parting from this, if you had the opportunity to change the image of a celebrity, who would you choose to help? why do you think this person could use a change?

Clau: Than you for your comments, and about the question, it's a matter of taste. There are celebrities whose style I don't like, but I would really like to see Katy Perry well groomed and dress - which I think I've seen like that a couple of times-. She is very pretty but her flamboyant style sometimes falls into vulgar. I don't think is necessary to show all that skin in order to be sexy. I believe she would look gorgeous with a feminine and elegant style, keeping that retro mood that suits her so well, like her pin up make up.

LuceBuona: ¿Cuál es tu mejor consejo de estilo personal?

Clau: Va a sonar muy típico pero yo sí creo en esa frase "de la moda lo que te acomoda" hay muchas tendencias que me gustan pero no todas van conmigo, así que es cuestión de ir descubriendo lo que nos va bien o adaptar lo que nos gusta a nuestra complexión, a mi me encantan los pantalones acampanados pero con mi 1.53 solo los puedo usar con mis plataformas que me aumentan como 15 cms de estatura, lo mismo hago con las maxi faldas que son mi actual obsesión :) también es cuestión de experimentar... me encanta esta frase que leí por ahí: “Try something new, you might be pleasently surprised” Maison Martin Margiela. Hay que atreverse y divertirse con la moda ;)

LuceBuona: Whar is your best personal style advice?

Clau: It will sound very typical but I believe that from fashion we should only take what works for us. There's many trends that I love, but not all of them fit me, so it's just a matter of finding what suits you, or try to adapt the trends to our bodies.
I love the wide leg pants, but with my 1.53 mts I can only wear them with platforms that give me an extra 15 cms of hight. I do the same for my actual obsession, the maxi skirts :) It's a matter of experimenting... I really like a phrase I read from Maison Martin Margiela, 'Try something new, you might be pleasently suprised". You have to dare and have fun with fashion! ;)

LuceBuona: ¿Algún comentario adicional o sugerencia que te gustaría compartir con l@s seguidores de Lux vita et iocus?

Sencillos y glamurosos looks de verano gracias a DSquared. El sombrero y los pantalones khaki de pierna ancha me encantaron!

Al parecer para los hermanos Dean y Dan Caten, hacer una camisa de botones un elemento completamente sexy y sofisticado, es cosa de diario.

Uhh those wide leg pants and the hat are lovely! It seems like the brothers Caten know the way to turn a button-down shirt into an every day sexy and sophisticated item.

Elegancia en naranja quemado.

Nunca he sido fanatica del color mostaza y sus derivaciones, pero conforme iba armando esta entrada, me fue gustando más y más, al grado de que lo intentare.

I've never been a fanatic of carrot or burnt orage, but while I was putting together this post, I slowly conviced myself of giving it a shot, and I will!

Más camisas desabrochadas y looks inspirados en uniformes colegiales, que maravilla!

Pantalones en color khaki, y combinaciones básicas resaltadas con olanes.
(Ya se en inglés me que quedo mucho más corta la frase jajaja, pero así quedo más claro.) Oficialmente vuelven los moños anudados a la cintura y las pañoletas con motivos náuticos.
It's official! The bows tied around your waist are back, and so are the nautical-motif scarves.

Verde seco, amarillo, beige y (una vez mas) azul claro. Esa falda-pantalón me recordó mi infancia, no porque yo las usara, sino que al estar los ochentas en pleno apogeo, mi mamá las usaba.
Un cinturón delgado en color café claro, parece ser una gran inversión para esta temporada.

Botas color café (de preferencia claro), de tacón decente, nada que cause arrepentimiento o dolor. Jamas he tenido unas botas estilo vaqueras, aun así estas me llamaron la atención y creo que cumplirían con su propósito de combinarlas con shorts o minis con mallas.

Brown or cognac boots, with a reasonble heel, you know, nothing to regreat a couple of hours later. I've never ever had cowboy boots, but I must say that this ones have been growing on me, and it seems like they will work well with shorts or skirts mixed with tights.

No se que tanta difusion y exito hayan tenido hasta ahora, pero apenitas hoy conoci a Sleigh Bells, y me encantaron.
I don't know much about them, all I can say, is that an hour ago I heard Sleigh Bells for the first time, and I already love them.

"Infinity Guitars", ahhh me encanto la actitud, se me pego la cancion. Inmediatamente la asocie con la marca Hellz Bellz, y no, no es solo por la palabra campana (duh!), sino que la vocalista, Alexis Krauss, bien podria protagonizar el catalogo de esa ropa.
Ohhh I love the attitude of "Infinity Guitars", that song just stuck to me. And also I quickly relate it to L.A. based Hellz Bellz. Obviously not only because they both share the word bells (duh!!) but, because singer, Alexis Krauss, could easily be on this brand lookbook.

Aprovechando los dos temas, matemos dos pajaros de un tiro, mientras les comparto la musica del dueto de Brooklyn y me sorprendo/emociono con la coleccion de fiesta de HellzBellz.

Hoy es mi dia libre. Dormi al menos 2 horas mas, que dicha! A las horas que normalmente estoy trabajando, baje a desayunar. Prendi la tele y ohhhhhhh! Me encuentro con la carita simpatiquisima de Lykke Li, y con la novedad de que en esta ocasion en ves de tener ese gesto "cute", tenia cara de badass... Ahhh! un video nuevo de ella!
Today is my day off. I slept at least two extra hours, what a bless! By the time I'm usually already at work, I was having breakfast. Turn on the tv to find the lovely and beautiful face of Lykke Li, only this time instead of looking cute as always, she seemed to be much of a badass... Oh yeah! A new video!

Para los que no la conocen, o solo la han oido el par de veces que la he mencionado, escuchenla, veran que es otra cosa. Aqui les dejo su nuevo videito "Get Some", que espero no sea la "vulgarizacion" de mi queridisima Lykke (no de verdad que eso no puede suceder!). Esta mujer es naturalmente glamurosa, con videos en tonalidades obscuras, diferentes, sin esforzarse mucho. A veces me recuerda a los cuadros de Remedios Varo, o me hace sentir dentro de uno de ellos, contemplando esas escenas extraordinarias. (Pongan su cancion de "Possibility", luego vean las siguientes pinturas y veran a lo que me refiero.)
For the ones that haven't heard of her, or have a vague idea of her, please google her songs, and you'll find out that she is something special. I'm sharing with you guys her new video, "Get Some", while I'm really hoping that this little missy dosen't get caught up in the media and eventually lose her style, which I trully love. She is naturally glamorous, I love her kind of dark videos, and many times her songs and her, remind me of Remedios Varo's paintings, or she makes me feel I'm witnessing one of those extraordinary scenes.
Go ahead, try it, play her song "Possiblity" while looking at these paintings, and you'll see what I mean.
